The Fordham Political Review opens applications on a semesterly basis, beginning on the date of the Rose Hill club fair and running for approximately a week afterward. The application consists of questions regarding your basic information, your political interests, a short paragraph expressing your interest in FPR, and a writing sample. Prospective members may apply for one of our four roles:
Content Editor: Assigned various articles throughout the semester. Content editors’ main duties include fact-checking, evaluating article and argument structure, and checking the validity of writers’ sources.
Copy Editor: Assigned various articles throughout the semester. Copy editors’ main duties include proofreading for correct spelling, grammar, phrasing, and AP styling.
Staff Writers: Produce two full-length articles (approx. 1200-1500 words) for the online and/or print publications during the semester. Staff Writers must meet set deadlines and may write about any topic of their choosing, as long as it is related to politics, economics, culture, or current events. Staff Writers’ work is expected to be compelling and argumentative in nature.
Columnists: Responsible for a bi-weekly article (approx. 600-800 words) for the online publication. Columnists meet strict deadlines and may write about any topic of their choosing, as long as it is related to politics, economics, culture, or current events. Their work must be compelling, but does not need to be argumentative. Columnists may also contribute opinion pieces.
